Whittell Gardens 46
A rear extension of a Victorian house.
The owners were in need of additional office space, a better loft conversion, and with soon to be teenagers they wanted to reestablish a separation between the existing open plan lounge, kitchen dining area. The resulting garden office has transformed the garden and
provided a space that the family uses for film nights and parties. The addition of part glazed part storage and display wall between the lounge and the kitchen dining has created a separation of spaces for the family to use—teenagers can occupy the lounge while the
parents chat in the kitchen without disturbing each other. The existing loft had been built by the previous owners solely as a spare bedroom. We simply removed it and re-built a modern loft extension with an ensuite as well as utilising the space under the eaves with built in storage creating separate dressing space. In the stairs we extended and existing window and added a roof light to brighten up the middle of the house, and improve circulation.
